The Act Dubai
By Kate Dannies
The Act Las Vegas has been billed as one of the most scandalous and controversial nightclub experiences in the world. Is Dubai ready?
Dubai is ready for a change. We will observe all the local laws and be respectful to our audience whilst shocking and delighting them. With that in mind I guarantee this version is sure to surprise people with what we have on offer.
What can we expect at the opening?
The Act Dubai is a theatre club with Peruvian cuisine. Located on the 42nd and 43rd floors of the Shangri La Hotel it will be there highest theatre in the world! We will be flying acts in from around the world with no night being the same. We are looking to bring a new and exciting change to the Dubai nightlife. For the opening we will have some world-class surprises; I’m not at liberty to say much more!
Where did the concept for The ACT originate? What was the inspiration?
I’ve been working in professional theatre since I was 15 and concurrently throwing raves from about the same age and was also interested in marrying my passion for entertainment and throwing parties. We want to create places that feel like a dream where you forget all about the outside world and who you think you are and add a twist of humour, romance and imagination.
What makes an amazing nightclub or lounge? What are the elements that have to come together?
A conducive design so people can see and be seen and have fun mixed with a staff that embodies the core values of the organization behind the project.
What’s the secret to attracting an A-list crowd?
Even celebs like to let their hair down every once and a while, we treat every night like it is our opening night with a diverse crowd, ability to give privacy and amazing performers. I guess that is why we attract the A-listers.
Which Arab celebrities would you like to see at The ACT Dubai’s opening night?
Amr Diab would be great to see at The Act Dubai. Aside from him I am hoping that this location will also attract the international A-List crowd too.
Does the opening of The ACT in Dubai represent a step towards more projects in the Middle East?
At the moment we don’t have any set plans to expand in the Middle East, but that is not to say that we wouldn’t as I have a keen interest in the region. I am always on the look out for new, unique spots that would work for the brand.
