New fashion label to lust after
Hello to all you parents out there this is a call out for you to take note (and credit card out) because there is a new fashion label to lust after. The dream collection comes in mini sizes and is designed by Margherita Missoni. Launched in March exclusively on yoox.com it promises not to be your typical VIP whim collaboration as this fashion heiress has the credentials to support her mantra that her kid’s collection is designed by a mother for mothers.

With style in her blood the 32 year old mother to Otto, (with another on the way), oozes fashion sense. Having grown up with designer parents and grandparents it’s safe to say this gal knows her fabrics. “I think that each person’s style, taste and aesthetic choices, in general, are forged by everything that surrounds this person, everything they see, taste, touch, smell and hear. So obviously my family has influenced me as a person and in my style, but so have all the experiences that I went through as an individual,” says Margherita.
Margherita embarks on a special journey: her signature brand MARGHERITA is entirely dedicated to children. The Spring Summer 2015 collection of Margherita is composed of pieces dedicated to infants age 0 to 2 and girls up to the age of 7, where the Margherita, the Italian word for daisy, is the fun logo of the brand.
“Growing up, I saw the world as an inspiring place, full of interesting people, and I want the Margherita kids collection to expose Otto and children like him to a colorful world of possibilities because – why not? This new evolution of my career came again as a spontaneous step forward, just as it had been for my mother before me, who was encouraged by her parents to do what made her happy, whether it be organic chicken farming, opening a kindergarten, or designing her own Angela Missoni collection. Hence, her blessing could not have been more sincere when my time came. Last but not least, the birth of my first baby boy was obviously a source of inspiration and the last push I needed to head my career in that direction,” she reveals.
Having grown up in the epicenter of Italian fashion going into design was an inevitable decision. “Every little detail of my life is, and has been, permeated with fashion – from the cup in which I drink my coffee in the morning, to shopping in Laos, fashion always pops out somehow”.
Having children – Otto is one and she is expecting a second this summer – was the catalyst for the collection, she says. “I am completely committed to this collection and yoox.com has an international reach that is unparalleled, which is very important to me and essential to introducing Margherita to a global audience. I have worked with yoox.com in the past, namely on several charity projects, including raising funds for OrphanAid Africa, of which I am Italian president, so I have developed quite a relationship with them”.
Becoming a mother also made her gain a whole new perspective not only on herself but on childrenswear which she swears is currently being designed by people who don’t have kids, hence making a lot of it impractical. For her, her future little clients comfort and freedom of movement are the number one priority. “I am much more at ease with myself and my choices in general- I trust myself more than before and comfort has climbed the scale of priorities,” she concludes.
