L’Oreal Egypt in collaboration with UNESCO is proud to announce the opening of the 2017 edition for L’Oreal – UNESCO “For Women in Science” Levant and Egypt program, empowering women to move science forward in Egypt.
‘The world needs Science and Science needs women, because women in science have the power to change the world’ is the core belief of the program that began 19 years ago in which it recognizes 5 women researchers who have accomplished extraordinary discoveries, and also grants 236 other women the opportunity to seize fellowships.
L’Oreal assures that only 30% of women represent the number of researchers in the world, highlighting the major role of Arab women’s contribute in science.
The annual program was launched in 1998 and till today it has awarded almost 90 winners from the Arab world, and 14 talented young women from Egypt.
That said, a crowd of Egypt’s successful women attended the press conference; including the Minister of Investment & International Cooperation Dr. Sahar Nasr, and President of Egypt’s National Council for Women Dr. Maya Morsy, as well as a number of government officials, scientific bodies’ delegates, and the President of the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology Mr. Benoit Julia L’Oreal Egypt Managing Director.
