The Fluidity of Time

I would label him “versatile,” able to engage with the past yet strongly exhausting in the present. “Time” in his work unites past, present and future, which becomes evident through his use of a plethora of techniques, including tromp l’oeil and his focus on flatness, combining two different eras. Some of his works focus on recreating the familiar with a twist, while others present spectators with something sublimely new.
According to the artist, “the work begins with a digital photograph, which is translated into a painting. I don’t think I necessarily render the image better or worse than a machine, but they are nonetheless different.” The latter once again supports his use of different media. Whether they all appear to the spectator or not, they are–nonetheless–embedded in his work, whether they claim their right to existence or not.
