When it comes to decorating, we can’t deny that sometimes it turns into a complete mess–unfortunately!  Other than that, on other occasions, we end up buying too much…which leads to copious amounts of clutter, and that’s never a good thing!  So here are nine things a woman should never have in her house; hope this makes your life a bit easier!

By Hend Seif El Din

Frills Frenzy
Frills are not sexy, not cute, and just a big NO!  You’re a woman, not a five-year-old girl. Go for clean cuts and patterns instead!

Silk Flowers
These personally bother me.  Yes, sometimes they look “natural,” but for me–because I know that they’re fake–I cannot “see” them as real flowers; they simply do not give me that fresh and happy feeling.  Not to mention, in a lot of cases, homeowners do not really care for their silk flowers, why?  Well…because they don’t die!  They end up collecting dust mites and losing color, so please, just don’t use them! Just opt for fresh flowers.

Stuffed Animals (on your bed)
Ok, I get that you probably have a favorite teddy bear, which comes with a long list of memories, but seriously, move it off the bed!  If you absolutely have to sleep with your stuffed animal, then please keep it to the minimum, i.e. only one teddy bear on the bed!  In other words, do not replace your throw pillows with your favorite childhood toys.

4.Cheap Bedding
Egyptian cotton is mentioned over and over again, and with good reason!  Do not settle for cheap bedding!  It will definitely not make you feel great!  Luxurious linens will make you feel like a queen, so please stick to Egyptian cotton, or–if you’re not a cotton person–why not go for smooth silk?

Too Many Pictures…of Your Pooch!
Those of you who know me, know how much I love animals, specifically my cat and my dog, but, this doesn’t mean that I have their pictures hanging everywhere!  There is no “deep” reason behind this, but in my opinion too many pet pictures make you seem lonely and desperate, so it’s best to avoid it! If you absolutely cannot bear the thought of not having one picture around, consider moving it out of the bedroom; should do the trick!

Mismatched Furniture
Ok, this is a bit tricky.  See, the right amount of mismatched pieces adds character to your eclectic space, which is a good thing!  However, too many mismatched furniture items will most certainly turn your living room into an ugly one.  So be very careful!

Perfectly Matched Furniture
Yes, too much of anything isn’t a good thing!  There’s no character, warmth, or fun in a room that’s all beige for example, and yes, some people choose to do that to a space!  Spice it up a bit!  Walls, floors, rugs, and sofas should not all be one color.

Television Stands
Back in the day when our TVs needed a stand, they made sense, but now that we’re in the era of wall-mountain, sleek, flat screens, please loose the stands!

Photos Galore
We all love our friends and family, but that doesn’t mean that we should put them on display in every single room!  Sure, it’s ok to have a few frames in your living room, but that’s about it!  Other than that, I personally think it takes away from the sentiment, and ends up cluttering!
