the Victoria & Albert Museum’s Newest Gallery
Home to some of the world’s most renowned furniture pieces, the Victoria & Albert Museum recently opened its Dr. Susan Weber furniture gallery, presenting the museum’s impeccable collection of international and British furniture from the 15th century till today.
Supported by the American Friends of the Museum through Dr. Susan Weber, the gallery tells the story of furniture design and production, spanning over the past 600 years and displaying more than 200 exquisite pieces. Focusing on questions of function, form, and techniques of decoration and construction, the collection includes a vast array of items including tables, stools, cabinets, chests, chairs, and many more.
Other than some lesser-known designers, the Gallery is home to incredible works by renowned designers, including Thomas Chippendale, Eileen Gray, Frank Lloyd Wright, Ron Arad, Tom Dixon, and Charles & Ray Eames.
